Geriatric Medicine

The progress of veterinary medicine in term of better and higher quality vaccines for prevention of variety diseases makes our pets’ life expectancy much longer than the past. Longer life expectancy leads our pet to encounter with non-infectious diseases called degenerative diseases which are associated with old age include: degenerative joint disease, heart disease, liver disease, chronic kidney disease etc.

It is possible to slow down those degenerative diseases if owners appropriately manage and take care of their pets such as the annual health examination when your pets are entering into their fifth year of their life once or twice a year. Early intervention can be initiated if any of internal organs become abnormal according to the checkup outcome. This early care can help to decrease the rate of deterioration of any particular organ to the least. As a result your pet’s quality of life will still be great even though they are in their senior years.
